Our Commitment to Accessibility
We strive to conform to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 Level AA. These guidelines explain how to make web content more accessible to people with a wide range of disabilities, including visual, auditory, physical, speech, cognitive, language, learning, and neurological differences.
We are an ongoing organization actively improving our site. Accessibility is a continuous process, not a one-time fix.
Standards We Follow
Our accessibility efforts are guided by:
- WCAG 2.1 Level AA — Web Content Accessibility Guidelines, the international standard
- Section 508 of the Rehabilitation Act (for federally-funded programs)
- Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) Title III guidance for digital content
- Plain Language principles — clear, readable content that doesn't require a law degree
- Neurodiversity-affirming design — reducing sensory overwhelm, respecting cognitive differences

Navigation & Structure
- Semantic HTML with proper heading hierarchy

Content & Language
- Plain language — we avoid jargon and write for real people
- Alt text on meaningful images
- Forms labeled clearly with instructions
- Error messages that are helpful, not just red boxes
Neurodiversity-Affirming Design
- Minimal auto-playing media (and always with controls when present)
- Consistent layout to reduce cognitive load
- Clear calls to action that don't rely on urgency or pressure tactics
- Adequate spacing and breathing room throughout the design
